KentCAF 2018 is coming to Kent, Ohio!
This “chamber convention” offers unprecedented access to a curated guest list of some of the most talented—and friendliest—writers, artists and illustrators working in the field today.
KentCAF 2018 will take place on Saturday, November 10 at the Kent State University Kiva. The Kent State portion of our show will run from 11AM-5PM and will be immediately followed by evening events in downtown Kent.
Kiva programming includes a special panel about adapting Neil Gaiman’s AMERICAN GODS to comics form with creators P. Craig Russell and Scott Hampton. Additional panels and presentations will take place in the Kiva throughout the day. Creators and exhibitors will also be set up in the KentCAF Artist’s Alley and Marketplace.

KentCAF 2018 Featured Guests:
P. CRAIG RUSSELL: A graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a degree in painting, P. Craig Russell has run the gamut in comics. After establishing a name for himself at Marvel on KILLRAVEN and DOCTOR STRANGE, he went on to become one of the pioneers who opened new vistas for this underestimated field with, among other works, adaptations of operas by Mozart (THE MAGIC FLUTE), Strauss (SALOME) and Wagner (THE RING OF THE NIBELUNG). Russell is also known for his FAIRY TALES OF OSCAR WILDE series as well as his graphic novel adaptations of Neil Gaiman’s SANDMAN: THE DREAM HUNTERS, MURDER MYSTERIES, CORALINE and AMERICAN GODS.
JILL THOMPSON: Jill is a 10 time Eisner Award winning comic book creator known for THE SCARY GODMOTHER, MAGIC TRIXIE, WONDER WOMAN: THE TRUE AMAZON, THE SANDMAN, BEASTS OF BURDEN and FINALS. A graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Jill continues to write and illustrate comics as well as teach comic-book storytelling at The International School of Comics in Chicago.
SCOTT HAMPTON: Born in 1959 in High Point, North Carolina, Scott Hampton grew up knee-deep in a world of classic literature, horror novels, and comic books. His older brother Bo is credited with fostering an enormous appetite for comics in Scott. It was natural then, that when Bo eventually became a comic book artist, the younger Scott followed (they both apprenticed with Will Eisner in 1976!). His work on SILVERHEELS (Pacific Comics, 1983) is considered to be the very first continuing painted comic book. As well as illustrating his own stories, Scott has illustrated books by some of fantasy’s finest writers, including Neil Gaiman (BOOKS OF MAGIC, AMERICAN GODS), Robert E. Howard (PIGEONS FROM HELL), Clive Barker (TAPPING THE VEIN), Archie Goodwin (BATMAN: NIGHT CRIES) and David Brin (THE LIFE EATERS). Scott’s most recent work is the chilling BATMAN: GOTHAM COUNTY LINE, written by Steve Niles. He currently lives in Durham, NC.
BARRY KITSON: Barry Kitson is a British comics artist best known as a penciler of major superhero comic books published by Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Kitson’s first professional work was Spider-Man for Marvel UK. He also drew many stories for 2000 AD, beginning with a “Future Shocks” tale written by Peter Milligan as well as others by Grant Morrison, and going on to achieve great acclaim with his detailed work on Judge Anderson written by Alan Grant. Barry has worked with Marvel Comics since 2007 on titles including THE ORDER, SECRET INVASION: FANTASTIC FOUR and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. In addition, he has worked on THE INCREDIBLE HULK, an IRON MAN miniseries, and FF. In 2017, Kitson and Mark Waid collaborated on an AVENGERS limited series. That same year, Kitson drew a WONDER WOMAN/TASMANIAN DEVIL one-shot for DC Comics.
